The story of a transformative year
Tech4Good South West exists to amplify tech for good across the South West, building a place-based regional tech for good community where technology supports society and we actively tackle the unintended consequences of the digital age. At the start 2024 the community was relaunched and became an established CIC. Across the year Tech 4 Good South West established strong foundations - developing a strong leadership team, creating a Theory of Change and delivering activities to build stronger and more connected communities in the South West.
In early 2025 I worked with the Tech 4 Good South West team to develop an Impact Report for 2024 to bring the story of their year to life.
The Brief
Telling the full story of a year’s impact in a way that is clear, compelling, and insightful.
I supported through four key steps:
Revisiting the Theory of Change
Tom Keyte, who supported the creation of the initial Theory of Change, led a process of reviewing the Theory of Change. I supported in this review and contributed to it’s refinement, ensuring it reflects the learning from 2024 and the intended journey for 2025. This gave a shared foundation for interpreting the work of Tech 4 Good South West.
Making Sense of the Data
Working with Annie Legge I collated the activity and impacted data collected throughout 2024. This was a combination of quantitative and qualitative information. I identified trends, clarified outcomes, and developed key insights from a thorough analysis of the data.
Crafting the story of impact
Based on the insights, I developed a report designed not only to inform but to engage. It tells the story of a year of change: what was achieved, what was learned, and points to what comes next. The tone was transparent and confident based on data and telling the human story of impact.
Creating an Impact Dashboard
Finally, I created a dashboard to visualise the 2024 data providing an accessible way to pull data and information swiftly and easily.
The Outcome
Tech4Good South West emerged with a clear, confident story of their impact across 2024 pilot year to share with their members, partners and supporters. Annie Legge, Co-Founder of Tech4Good South West shared:
Having grown organically from a volunteer-led meet-up group, our data has been fairly erratic and held in a variety of different places - much of which is qualitative so it has been difficult to articulate the impact we have been achieving. We are so thrilled to have come out with such a clear impact narrative and snapshot report for our first pilot year as a Community Interest Company.
The impact was beyond a set of numbers, the impact report served as a key narrative for the organisation which can be built on year on year. You can read the report here.
This project was delivered as part of the 80 hours initiative.
